EUROPEAN COLLECTIVE AND NATIONAL IDENTITY AS A FACTOR OF MILITARY SECURITY AND DEFENSE CAPABILITIES OF THE EU COUNTRIES

The consequences of information technology influences on global transformations of security and social and economic processes management are generalized. The essence of “European identity” and multiculturalism is revealed in their interconnection and interdependence at the national and integration levels. Arguments are given in favour of the assumption that migration processes, strengthening of right-wing radical ideas and organizations, and related crisis phenomena testify the spread of forms and methods of hybrid warfare between countries with the aim to undermine the European security system, but do not bear witness to the collapse of the idea of multiculturalism. The nature and humanistic potential of such phenomena as identification, in particular national and European, and multiculturalism are revealed in their interconnections and interactions in the context of public governance tasks in the field of security and defense. It is proved that the humanistic potential of European identity in European countries is able to ensure the harmonious development of European society and its management. European integration in the field of defense is not just one of the possible ways to deepen the process, but appears to be a strategic and economic necessity for the EU countries. Conflicts on the EU's borders, terrorism and cyber terrorism, hybrid wars, and the growing blurring of external and internal threats all make the European Union and its Member States more vulnerable.
The new security situation in Europe is quite complicated, and thus it forces the Europeans to take on more responsibility for security on and around the continent. It is stated that in order to create an effective system of counteracting all potential threats, it is necessary to exploit the combined potential of all countries, whose awareness of national identity does not contradict the main ideas of collective (European) identity.
