ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS AN INNOVATIVE TOOL OF CORRUPTION PREVENTION IN JUDICIARY: THE RISKS

There has been made an attempt in the article to evaluate and systematize the risks of IT-technologies application and their highest manifestation – artificial intelligence – as an anti-corruption mechanism in the judiciary. Specific examples of flagrant cases of corruptive practices in the national public sphere and quite modest results of activity of Ukrainian bodies of parallel (anti-corruption) justice has been highlighted. The inability of traditional public legal tools to reduce the level of corruption activity in Ukraine without involving radical steps, and, in particular, in-depth digitalization of judicial power has been emphasized once again. Simultaneously there has been additionally underlined that scrupulous risk research of using computer programs with such a high level of development as artificial intelligence is in the role of anti-corruption mechanism is mandatory and inevitable as well. A brief description of potential risks of the artificial intelligence implementation in the field of justice with reference to certain national and foreign practices has been offered; tentative systematization of the risks and their preliminary division into fundamental, ethical-philosophical, and technical-technological ones has been conducted. There has been given a further impetus to in-depth research of artificial intelligence and the peculiarities of its application in the judicial system as an innovative tool for combating corruptive practices.
