THE DOCTRINE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND ITS ROLE IN THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION OF MODERN SOCIETY

The article analyzes the doctrine of political correctness and its role in the public administration of modern society.
It is established that the doctrine of political correctness involves the direct or indirect prohibition of disclosing certain facts and using words and expressions that are offensive to certain groups. Therefore, it is closely related to politics, political culture (which varies from country to country), and public administration (as it persuades and encourages the audience to make ‘politically correct’ assessments and actions).
The author characterizes public administration as a process of exercising govermental functions in order to ensure effective interaction between public administration entities and representatives of civil society through the implementation of the doctrine of political correctness.
It is demonstrated that the doctrine of political correctness is enforced through legal acts and the citizens willingness to comply with the established rules and legal norms.
The article highlights political correctness as a way of life and a style of speech behavior which restricts politicians` and public figures statements and places taboos on certain topics which are important in the modern political, economic, social and cultural spheres by introducing a public code of speech behavior.
It is substantiated that the doctrine of political correctness in modern society is an integral part of public administration and is understood as an ideology used to overcome discrimination of social groups, a tool for combating intolerance, prejudice and injustice; as a linguistic and behavioural instrument for political and governmental control, manipulation and obstruction of freedom of speech; as actions aimed at protecting the feelings of those who are deprived of equal opportunities compared to other members of society; as a social code of conduct and an element of political culture.
Further study should focus on the European experience in implementing the doctrine of political correctness in the process of communication between the government authorities and the public in public administration.
