THE ROLE OF PUBLIC OPINION IN ENSURING NATIONAL SECURITY

The article attempts to conduct a deep, comprehensive and systematic study of the essence of national security of Ukraine in the context of modern geopolitical, social and domestic political challenges, as well as dynamic transformations that determine the development of the state. The authors of the article seek to reveal the multidimensional nature of national security, based on the analysis of key theoretical approaches, models and concepts that shape the modern scientific discourse in this area. The review covers the main structural components of national security, including political, military, economic, social and information dimensions, as well as the identification of internal and external factors that directly influence the formation of the state's security environment. The article pays special attention to the phenomenon of public opinion, which is considered an important social indicator that reflects the level of trust in government bodies, the nature of society's perception of current threats, as well as the dominant expectations and demands of citizens regarding state security policy. Public opinion is analyzed not only as a passive reflection of public sentiment, but as an active factor capable of influencing the formation and adjustment of strategic decisions. The study outlines how social assessments, information influences, civic activity and communicative practices between the population and the authorities determine the directions of development, improvement and implementation of national security strategies. The role of media narratives, public discussions, collective perceptions and mass sentiments in the formation of public demand for certain security measures is emphasized. Particular emphasis is placed on how these factors influence the priorities of state policy in the military, political, economic, information and humanitarian spheres. The article aims to demonstrate the inextricable relationship between the level of development of public consciousness, the quality of communication between the authorities and society and the effectiveness of measures aimed at guaranteeing the national security of Ukraine. This approach allows for a deeper understanding of the importance of public opinion as a tool for stabilization, forecasting, and strategic planning in the field of national security.
