Digital transformation of museums: challenges and opportunities for state policy in the field of culture

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical overview of the basic principles of digital transformation of museums and practical recommendations for improving the state policy in the field of culture in Ukraine in the context of current challenges and opportunities. The relevance of this study is substantiated. The latest scientific domestic and foreign research and publications are analyzed. The fundamental provisions of the digital transformation of museums are revealed. A general definition of the modern concept of digital transformation is provided. The most common digital technologies and the specifics of their application in museums are described. The author analyzes the current challenges and opportunities of digital transformation of museums. The role and importance of the state in the digital transformation of museums is determined. The influence of state policy in the field of culture on the digital transformation of museums is revealed. Domestic legislation related to the digital transformation of museums in Ukraine is analyzed. The mechanisms for implementing the state policy of digital transformation of museums in Ukraine are considered and their practical implementation is analyzed, identifying the main challenges and problems. The prospects for the development of digital transformation of museums in Ukraine are determined. An analysis of potential obstacles and challenges that may arise in the process of digital transformation of museums in Ukraine is carried out and measures to minimize them are proposed. Recommendations are made to improve the state policy in the field of culture and its impact on the digital transformation of museums in Ukraine. In the context of this study, promising areas for further theoretical and practical research are identified. Thus, the article theoretically examines the fundamental provisions of the digital transformation of museums and offers practical recommendations for improving the national state policy in the field of culture in the context of current challenges and opportunities.
